SUMMARY:Lakhon Khol (Khmer Classical Mask Theatre Performance) Community Project November 20\, 2020
DESCRIPTION:A project initiated by CamEd Audit Club to by producing 2 short films related to classical mask theatre performance support Cambodian Lakhon Khol Community during the Covid Pandemic on of which is the reproduction of Ramayana scene and another is an educational video about study life and Lakhon Khol. \nDate:   November 20\, 2020 \nLive Streaming on CamEd Audit Club Social Media \nLakhon Khol History \nLakhon Khol is a traditional mask theatre performance of Cambodia that had its origins during the Angkor period. It is believed to have begun during the 10th century through the inscription K.99 Sambor Prei Kuk temple in the reign of King Jayavarman V. \nLakhon Khol reappeared once again in the 20th century in King Sisowath and continued to King Norodom Sihanouk in 1948\, after the end of World War II by organizing a rehearsal Initially\, he visited the Vegetable History at (Lakhon Khol Wat Svay Andet) in Kandal Province\, which performed theatrical theatre for rainfall and peace to the community every year. \nOne of the specific stories of the theatrical performance is the Reamker\, the Khmer legend of the Ramayana. The performance includes an introduction to storytellers who play an important role in the performance and classical music of the Pin Peat.  Lakhon Khol was Inscribed in a tentative list of UNESCO intangible cultural heritage as Urgent safeguarding on March 31\, 2017\, by the Ministry of culture and fine art. On November 28\, 2018\, Lkhon Khol Wat Svay Andet was included in the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding of UNESCO. \n  \nLakhon Khol Mask dance battle of Reamker A scene fighting between Rama and Ravana performed in the courtyard of the Silver Pagoda Phnom Penh\, c. 1900s~1920s\n  \nAbout Project \nAfter the success of organizing “CAT Passing Trail 2020”\, CamEd Audit Club was determined to organize a charity project for society. However\, we cannot organize a trip as we have normally done before due to the situation of Covid-19. Hence\, this year\, CAC decided to make a donation to the Lakhon Khol Community and collaborated with them to reproduce the Ramayana scene of this Khmer Classical Mask Theatre Performance. \nThen\, CamEd Audit Club was honored to collaborate with the Lakhon Khol community to produce a short film about “Study Life and Lakhon Khol”.
