In 2024, Canada proudly re-established its embassy in Phnom Penh, marking an important milestone in its renewed commitment to Cambodia and the wider Southeast Asian region. This decision was not merely symbolic; it represented a strategic investment in the future of Canada-Cambodia relations. By restoring a permanent diplomatic presence in Phnom Penh, Canada demonstrated its intention to deepen economic cooperation, strengthen diplomatic and educational ties, and ensure that the bilateral relationship delivers tangible benefits for both Cambodians and Canadians. The reopening of the embassy also provides a vital platform to support Canadian businesses operating in Cambodia, expand trade and investment opportunities, and foster the people-to-people connections that form the foundation of lasting prosperity.
