Overview

The diploma in Fundamentals of Accounting, Finance, and Investment are designed to enhance knowledge of accounting and finance of the employees in the organization. It is suitable for every employee including employees who have no accounting and finance background.

Module 1: Introduction to Financial Accounting

20 hours of lecture
4 hours of exam review
2 hours of examination

 Expected Learning Outcomes:

  1. Explain users’ and stakeholders’ needs and responsibilities in relation to financial reporting and regulation thereof.
  2. Apply double-entry accounting to record common transactions involving income, expense, assets, liability and items of equity.
  3. Prepare basic financial statements: statement of financial position, statement of profit or loss and other comprehensive income, and statement of cash flows.
  4. Analyze and interpret basic financial statements.

Module 2: Introduction to Financial Management

20 hours of lecture
4 hours of exam review
2 hours of examination

Expected Learning Outcomes:

  1. Describe methods and procedures for managing cash balance.
  2. Explain and apply the principles in making medium to long term financing decisions.
  3. Explain and apply the principles in making capital investment decisions.
  4. Evaluate general business problems to identify assumptions and decision making constraints.
  5. Apply a range of techniques to forecast cash flow.

Module 3: Introduction to Investment Management

20 hours of lecture
4 hours of exam review
2 hours of examination

Expected Learning Outcomes:

  1. Explain the fundamental principles of investment, with a focus on financial markets and institutions, alternative investments techniques available in the global financial markets and formulation of relevant strategies given the investor’s objective.
  2. Explain the CFA Code of Ethics and Standards of Conduct and the overview of common impact investment strategies across asset classes, including venture capital, private credit, public equities, and real assets.
  3. Evaluate the different approaches to estimating equity investment risk and return and cost of capital from a company’s perspective.
  4. Apply different models for stock valuation of a listed company and a private company in the context of real-world evidence.
  5. Evaluate different models for real estate valuation of a commercial and residential property considering issues that impact on the valuation.

Assessment:

At the end of the class study, participants are assessed by online examination. Candidates who score 50% or more will be awarded a certificate of completion to each of the modules. After completion of all 3 modules, the participant will be awarded the Diploma in fundamentals of Accounting, Finance and Investment.
